You want to get the attendees involved and invested in your event, and they just want to be heard. It's a match made in heaven! Make the most of your Live Feed with these practices.

Keeping any audience engaged is no easy feat, especially in the virtual event arena. Some common questions we hear from event organizers are:

  • “How do we get people talking before the event?”
  • “How do we help connect attendees during the event?”
  • “How do I prevent the conversation from fizzling out after the event?”

We recommend finding an event platform with a feed where attendees can contribute their thoughts and ideas. If you choose Cadence, we’ve got you covered! Our Live Feed integrates images, videos, polls, questions, GIFs, and more tools to encourage engagement.

How to excite your audience before the event starts:

You’ve sent out the registration for your event. People are signing up left and right. But when they land on your event’s Live Feed, it’s a blank field. Not a good look, and certainly not engaging. You’ll be responsible for the heavy lifting to start. It’s your job to kick it off. So, what can you post before the event begins?

Welcome to the Event

Welcome the attendees, tell them what to expect and what to get excited about. Encourage them to start exploring the platform and post on the Live Feed to connect with other attendees. And always include an image or video! We personally love a funny GIF.

Ask Questions

Never underestimate how much people love talking about themselves. The best way to get your audience engaged is to ask them both general and event-specific questions. Encourage them to answer in text or even video. There’s nothing like putting a face to the name. Here are some of our favorites:

General Questions to Spark Conversation:

  • If you won the lottery, what would you buy?
  • What five things could you not live without?
  • Where is your happy place?
  • What is something you’re obsessed with?
  • Do you have any pets?
  • What smell brings back great memories?
  • What song always puts you in a good mood?

Event-Specific Questions to Engage Attendees:

  • What brought you to this event?
  • What are you most looking forward to?
  • What are you least looking forward to?
  • What do you hope to learn from this event?
  • How can we make this event great for you?
  • Which speaker are you most excited about?
  • Do you have any questions for us?

Create a Poll

We love an open field format, but sometimes people just want a simple way to feel like they’ve contributed. Enter Polls. Polls are a great way to interact that don’t necessarily take up too much of the attendees’ time. Plus, it’s anonymous, so no one has to be embarrassed that they like pineapple on their pizza.

How to fuel and encourage amazing conversations during the event

You’ve done most of the heavy lifting already, so we hope by this point your audience knows what the Live Feed is and how to use it. Ideally, they’ll be starting their own conversations or sharing their own silly moments throughout the event. But a little extra push in the right direction from your end can never hurt! We’ve got a few more Live Feed pro-tips for you.

Post Quotes, Images, & Thought-Provoking Ideas

Sometimes the event-grind becomes monotonous. By sprinkling in some fun quotes or ideas, you’ll help to break up the boring parts of an event and boost conversations between guests.

Give a Shout-Out

The only thing people love more than being heard, is being recognized for their hard work! Why not give them a little shout-out to make their day? You can do this by @ mentioning in the Live Feed.

Craft Additional Live Feeds

Of course, we want attendees to connect with other attendees. But don’t leave your sponsors in the dust. You can create a feed specifically for them. You could also create a special VIP Live Feed for premium users or a separate place for employees of the company. The possibilities are endless!

How to keep the conversation going after the event:

Your event went off without a hitch, awesome! But don’t let the connections fade between your attendees. Use all the tips you’ve learned above to keep that conversation flowing after the event.

Share a Compilation of Images or Videos

Compile all the best moments from your Live Feed and share them with your attendees. Everyone loves a good photo album!

Inquire About Ways to Improve

Ask specific questions or create polls to find out how your event could be improved for the future. People love to give feedback, and now you have the perfect spot to let them do so!

Don’t Forget to Fan the Flame

Don’t let that fire burn out! A day, a week, a month, or even a year after the event, you can still throw in a fun quote, memory, or idea into the Live Feed. It’s a great way to keep everyone connected and engaged long after the event is over.

Well folks, there you have it. The Live Feed is your most powerful tool for engaging your attendees. So, let’s get to posting!
